I don't know (but I'm getting closer) How many minutes does the average clock count all in all in a lifetime How many steps does it likely take to dig the grave of a lonely guy? I don't know but I'm getting closer How many high roads can fill the black soles of the man they chose to hire To make blocks of grey, tons and pounds of clay to fulfill their own money-driven desires? I don't know but I'm getting closer How many kingdoms come and yards of chewing gum does it take to fill a hole That is so wide that you could fit a planet or two and still throw in a couple of bombs? I don't know but I'm getting closer How many hours of television and transnational telecommunications should one endure To say he's safe of all counts of alternative descriptions of the night and day? What can I say How many sad kids can consider themselves the proud and clean heirs of the parents they're used to call their own Until they realize all by themselves they're soon gonna have to pay for what they've sown? I don't know but I'm getting closer How many lightbulbs will a man change until he's away from the need of electricity No necessity to charm and warm up to the infinite joys of society? I don't know but I'm getting closer How many strings should a guitar player break until all his verses are out of mood How many words should a musician sing until all choruses are shut down for good? I don't know but I'm getting closer How many dollars will credit and debit a bank account in a full lifetime To pay for the fortunes of the ones spent by the representatives of a dummy mind? I don't know but I'm getting closer

Grandmaster of Tears Under the shadows of the vanguard You raised a toast to the changing of the guards Now I was on the outskirts And you were in Bliss I thought I'd lead you out but something went amiss Now all that you sing and all that you whistle Sounds like the echo of the hum and the rattle But there ain't no point in going adrift tonight From the beginning you had your neck on the line Now I see moonlight and I see snow And I hear raindrops falling on her floor Now I hear you running on with the rest But I've been keeping it buried inside my chest You release your horses As I moved my pawn You raised a finger to the queen of all his dawns I make no mistakes And leave no traces The swiftest move was the one you missed when you blinked Now I see strangers on the front steps of your life As I was going above to observe a different side Now if the thought of hurting me is keeping you busy I've been running far too long to look back now baby

I'm Walkin' 04:18
I'm Walkin' I'm walkin' Until I'm walking out Said I've been walkin' Walking out of sight I've been runnin' Until I'm running out Lord I've been running Running Running out of time I've been trippin' Tripping 'til I'm tripping out I've been calling Calling on a star I've been walkin' Walking out of sight I've been runnin' Running out of time

Back to the Coast It's part of the crime It's part of the deal It's part of the same old story That seems to make you think You're walking abused You're walking strapped By the repeating thoughts that turn around Your hat I'd like to be walking down all the way back to the coast Just to see all my foot steps washed away by the cold It's part of the rule It's part of the scene It's part of the same old glory That disappeared You're walking used You're walking trapped By the repeating thoughts that turn around Your hat On an on It's all part of the same thing

To Be Your Usher Driving down that street I see you girl Walking around by feet Stopping by to see Just in case you might Need a lift Holding on to that hand There is nothing girl You won't understand So as long as I'm thinking through There is no cost to pay from me to you You're nowhere fast without an usher To tell you one way from another Driving down to the creek I see you girl From cheek to cheek Hanging on to that style Oh yeah half the world Is in my reach

Easy with the wordplays there, babe Looking in the depths of a photograph Between the shades of black and white I notice a face I've never seen before A ghost of some kind behind a monochrome wall Easy with the wordplays there, babe Took a look around to find out if I could I see If the stranger in question was anywhere to be And here he is sitting on a rocking chair With a pipe in hand and messed up hair I ask him if he's got the answer to this Sudoku That I've been trying to resolve in a month or two In a second comes up with the number With no questions asked or even a mumble Easy with the wordplays there, babe I asked are you a genius of some kind A piper at the gates that I might find When I'm older and crippled With only my memories to watch the time pass away He doesn't say no and doesn't yes But his face does look quite intense Then I turn mine away and shuffled my feet Looked at the photograph he wasn't there to be Easy with the wordplays there, babe Could you ever show me a bag of tricks The ones that make the grandchildren split The ones that make them scared and make them chill Is that the trend Easy with the wordplays there, babe

When I'm not Around Got a pair of shoes Just to walk in the night Got me a couple of blues Same color as your eyes For as long as you stay And as far as I may I'm not around Brought a pair of windows And a bottle of wine Got me some news From another star For as long as you stray Away from this day There is love in here if you try There is love in these tears that I cry There is hope in What Keeps Us from Sleeping at Night When I'm not around Brought a pair of scissors And a couple of knives A blister and a shiver 'Til the end of the light For as long as you care And as far as I dare I'm not around

Every once in a while Once in a lifetime You see it coming down Like tears from your eyes I could let myself drown And every once in a while I can understand why The tears that fall from your eyes Don't get further than your smile
9.
The price of a season fare All along the coast of the old times lost Up and round by the hill that you once shot I engage it but can't control it at all Just before dawn Deep inside the pockets of a millionaire Far behind the black rooms of a wedding pair I can engage it but can't control it at all How is the time when you were far from home When you told the same old joke about the Belgian whore How is the time when you finally dared To leave behind the price of a season fare All behind the view from a building's bed On a wall beside the lining in her hair She can't control it but she loves it all Now is the time for the season fare Now is the time will you finally dare
